Hello,
I am curious if anyone has added a 98 S1W exhaust system to their bike. If so, what are your impressions performance wise? I have a 95 S2 that just received 2004 XL heads, larger cams, 3" breather set-up, and Thunderstorm Pistons, but has the stock header w/ a Vance & Hines Slip on. The S1W exhaust I'm looking at already has the Vance & Hines muffler on it. Down the road I'd like a Force or West Tek exhaust, but this is probably my only option this year. Thanks for your help.

i'm a big fan of the buell full-race, just my opinion though. awesome mid-range with proper jetting.
if you can locate one of those, you wont be disappointed.

I run the Race Kit header and pipe too. If I remember correctly, Battle2Win tested many period systems way back when, and the Race Kit set-up was hard to beat in terms of performance across the range and top end.

I'd recommend using the upgrade Y shape front muffler mount if you go with the Race Kit set-up. The header pipe has a habit of cracking around where the two pipes meet. The muffler can sometimes break the rear mounting brackets off too. Attention to detail when mounting the full system helps prevent cracking.

The muffler spits out the wadding after 500 miles or so and the baffle tube is know to break loose inside the muffler. If you don't mind to 'feel the noize' I'd recommend gutting the muffler, but it will be LOUD if you do.

If memory serves, I think it was the 'race only' KT pipe that performed better than the Race Kit, but I don't think they manufacture the KT anymore.

Is it possible that my 98' S1W is fitted with a 2" header? Or maybe it's just me that can't seem to get my measuring right.

Valez, UK bikes have a 2" collector, so perhaps the rest of Europe had them too?
