as the miles add up I am noticing that when I don't manually close the throttle it takes a bit for it to go back to idle. It has become somewhat of a cruise control when I stretch my hands but I have a feeling its not good. what part do I need to replace/adjust to fix this? and where is it located?

Two cable-in-sleeve connect twist grip to a pulley on throttle body.
Twist grip is tube rotating a pulley on handlebar.
Simple moving parts that mostly become fouled with grime and old grease; there is wear, too.
Clean inspect & lube.
Start at twist grip and progress toward throttle body. Lubricant can be fed down cables by gravity after removing 'em from twist-grip.
