is the cylinder liner supposed to be slightly raised from the deck of the cylinder ? Since my front head gasket ruptured I'm looking at everything to make sure it's right before I reassemble. It's not alot, maybe .006-.009" but the steel(cast iron?) liner definitely sits higher than the aluminum cylinder

I had this problem on my '96 S1. You can have it milled or better yet get some AAC linerless jugs and this won't be able to happen.
