I have a 1996 S1 that has 15,000 miles. my battery died on the road for the second time. i dropped the primary cover and the stator was torn apart. the bolts that hold the rotor housing (magnet bolted to the engine sprocket) had sheered and became attached to the magnet. i removed all of the parts. the bolts that hold the stator are fine. i ordered a replacement that is welded together i believe. its like 3 part number revisions later. i also order gaskets, snap rings, stator with new stator bolts and voltage regulator.

can anyone tell me the procedure to replace the stator? like the torques for the engine sprocket and clutch basket. what and how much Locktite to use. Still waiting on rotor housing and engine sprocket (hd kit 32403-89A). thanks dynellep@gmail.com

I believe you can download the S1 shop manual from this site in the Manuals section.
