Replacing OEM paper primary cover gasket with Cometic. After some more reading here I figured I probably just overfilled the Primary with a full quart on the last change, but found some other stuff while readin;main crank seal issue,...

I don't think the main crank seal went as the gear lube that came out was just that;gear lube and no smell of anything else. Anyway, what else should I be lookin at while in there? The primary tensioner is an orange/yellow lookin block with some good grooves in her-replace? What else should I be inspectin? Thanks dudes.

Pulled the primary tensioner block out-1 week and $22 for ordering one and it's on the way.

You may as well change out the primary crank seal while you are in there.
Yours is a 2001, depending on when it was made, it has the old style single lip seal.
It WILL start to leak.

BTW, the new stock HD gasket primary gasket is the good metal type, same as the Cometic. They work great.
You also might want to consider replacing the starter gasket. It's also a paper type. New style is rubber coated metal. Far superior!

If you do all of the above, you won't need to go into the primary for a long time.

Cool, thanks Brad, I did the wife's primary gasket w/o doing the primary crank seal, or starter gasket. I'll be doing mine next with the updates you mentioned just for PM. THNX...

Great pic of you and the family BTW

overfilling will come out of the gearbox breather and on to your rear tyre.

It is not a pressurised circuit like the engine so your seals should be no worse than before.

Ok Thanks Bombardier-I have a different problem now after reassembly. I only have 1st gear and neutral. It won't shift into 2nd.
