Every year for the past three years my local Buell dealer (idiots by the way) has had to reset my tps 3 times to get it to stick. So far this year I've done it once and 2 days later it tries dying and then idles at 2k another time. How do I do this myself? I'm sick of paying them to fix my bike when they never truly fix it. I see that asb no longer has that vdsts thing for sale, and from much searching on here the ecmspy is no longer available. What do I do? My bike runs like $^*# and the buell dealer can't or won't take the time to fix it right the first time. I am at my wits end and sturgis is coming up along with other trips I have planned. I live in south dakota so finding another dealer is pretty much out of the question, I'm sick of paying them anyway. The bike is a '99 x1 by the way. Thanks everybody beugs | ||

Try to check for intake leaks and/or injectors o-rings. | ||

Will that cause the ecm to lose tps location? Every time they zero it they tell me that it was in fact off. (I don't buy it but what do I know?) I will check for leaks though anyway, I have a spare set of intake seals. I have to replace rocker box gaskets anyway. beugs | ||

After to do a TPS reset watch the TPS%/º values at idle 950/1050 rpm and take the bike for a ride and then hook the bike to ECMSPY and look if it to jump all over?, if so you've found out the problem. If you have recently worked on/changed something, re-check your work. Have you checked your AFV? Regards. | ||

Well see there's the problem, I can't do this myself, I don't have ecmspy or anything else. That's what I want to solve, I need something that will allow me to do this myself. I can't rely on the idiots to do this anymore. If someone near sioux falls, sd has ecmspy and would like to contribute some time to a fellow bueller to get this right that would be awesome as well. beugs | ||

I just had two TPS resets fail, one using ECM Spy, the second was done at the dealership (very good, competent techs at St. Paul Harley Davidson/Buell). When it failed the second time, the tech replaced the TPS itself and it's now running great. | ||

Sounds like you need a new tps. I had the same exact problem took it to the dealer and they said it was the tps. Still in the process of changing it. I think I ended up with the wrong tps because the alignment tangs are 90 degrees out from the original one were and we cant get any reading on the ECMspy for the tps. |
