If i were to put the drummer and the 12 airbox on my 9 would i have to get the race ecm too or will it run pretty well without picking up the ecm |

Isn't the Jardine riveted together? I read a lot of posts here saying that rivets and Buells don't go together. I've read that the rivets get shaken so badly that they fail. Is this a myth or fact??? Quite frankly the thought of spending a couple hundred bucks and have a major failure due to shaking a bit disturbing! |

Oh yeah, since this is the DRUMMER thread, kudos to Kevin and Brian for a pretty sweet re-working of the stock can. Still my number one choice when the time to upgrade is right! |

Just so I'm straight, a new drummer with badge is $350 plus core. Plus $50 for the exhaust tip mod if you want it would make $400. Is that right???? I want one! |

I received my DRUMMER a couple months ago while I had my XB torn down completely and had not had a chance to actually hear it until yesterday when I finally got my bike out into Mother Nature for the first tine in a few months. I am not a particularly objective judge if for no other reason than the ONLY other exhaust I have ever heard on an XB is the stock issue, non-race, exhaust can.
I will just say that even after hearing a lot of other people raving about the DRUMMER's exhaust note it in no way prepares you for actually hearing it with your own ears. If you could have been driving by my house and seen me standing next to my XB and just revving it and then letting it idle and then revving it and letting it idle all the while with the biggest stupid ass grin on my face you would have thought I was a pea brain!
The DRUMMER sounds f'n incredible to my untrained ear, and once I get the TPS reset I can only hope that the ass clench factor goes along with the eargasm the DRUMMER provides.
Don't knock the DRUMMER until you try one. |

Thanx spooky, i was kinda hoping not so that i could wait until my 1000 mile service to put the ecm on, but its no biggie the dealer is close anyway. |

Took my X1 on the first ride with my Drummer modified pro-series exhaust. WOW! I mean @#$!%&*! This thing rocks! I've been used to riding with the torque curve peaking around 5000, now I get a kick in seat at 2500 that doesn't stop until I lose my grip or the rev limiter kicks in at 7200.
Thank You Drummer for working your magic on my rather tired pro-series race exhaust. I expected an improvement, but this is like a different bike. That sound ain't bad either.
If you want to upgrade YOUR pipe, YOU GOTTA GET A DRUMMER. My 1203 and me are happy again. Pick a gear and nail it, just make sure you're hanging on... |

Right now I'm doing some Pro Series Race Mufflers for the tubers....I can broaden the torque curve for ya...more seat of the pants than giving you dyno figures...read what Jrock said...I know what he's feeling because that's how I got started...call me at my shop...9am to 5pm eastern # 828-324-9991 |

All you guys ranting about your Drummer was making me jealous. I live about 10 miles from Kevin's shop and I'll soon be sporting a Drummer on my tuber.
Kevin I'll try to call you today, maybe tomorrow, and we'll set up the time/date.
My M2 decided it needed to eat the rear bearings yesterday so I first have to correct that. My lawnmower blew up earlier this week too. So, it's my week to tear stuff up. I liked that lawnmower too -- she'll be missed.

I just put a Drummer on a XB12S with K&N filter
and race ECM .
but i found the performance gain on the dyno a bit disapointing.
i'll try to upload a graph later
anyone else got a dyno graph of a 12 with a drummer? |

If you go and look in the previous there is a dyno with the drummer on a 12, it is only 4 or 5 hp and torque.
The stock 12 pipe works real well thats why the gains are small.
the 9's don't have the valve thats why the gains are bigger on them.
what did you get and did you dom a 4th or 5th gear pull? |

Red = Stock 89,4hp @ 6413rpm 78 ft-lbs @ 5659rpm
Blue = with Drummer,Race ECM,K&N filter,frame
tube removed 87,3hp @ 6384rpm 79ft-lbs
@ 5282rpm
White wire disconnected and bike was run for
a while to give the ecm the time to "learn" and adjust.

I ran my Drummer with K&E filter, XB12 air box on a Dyno and got 78.3 HP on my XB9S. My response curve was very similar to the ones posted before. The only major difference was a hole in the torque curve from 4k to 5k RPM. Due to other posts I think it is because I didn't use the race ECM. I think it is going lean in that range. I have a race ECM and will put it on my bike. When I rerun my bike on a dyno, I am sure I will get very similar dyno response curves to the ones that are on the Drummer website.
I wanted to get an air fuel mixture at the same time. They said that they couldn't give me that because they couldn't insert the probe up the muffler far enough to eliminate air sucking up the exhaust pipe to spoil the reading. They suggested that I weld a bung on the headers to screw in their oxygen sensor near the front head. |

Where do I get a Drummer? I have just bought a '05 XB12R and I want to get a aftermarket exhaust. I will buy the race ecm plus a filter. My questions are what is the difference between the race pipe and the drummer pipe with the fatlet. Sound and performance. Again this is on a 12 and not the 9. How much is the drummer with the fatlet. How long do I have to be without my bike until the drummer arrives...I live in MA. Thanks again.. Todd |

I have installed a drummer on my 2003 XB9S. I have a race ecm and K&N filter. I had Kevin make a "quiet drummer". It's not really quiet, somewhere between stock and the Buell race muffler. This is not a ss version, it was carved from a stock unit.
I was previously using a Buell race muffler. After using the race muffler for 2500 miles, I can truly say the drummer feels better at low-mid RPM. The popping on deceleration is gone and I can hear the motor now.
I do not have any charts or scientific data to show any horsepower or torque claim before and after. But I know what I feel when I ride a bike. This thing feels better.
I did not previously know Kevin or am I affiliated with his business. I personally spoke with Kevin several times before and after the process. He is very approachable and loves what he is doing. My hats off to Kevin for fine workmanship.
