Thanks before hand. My 2001 Speedo quit working and the odometer/trip will not advance. I have removed the speed sensor and it had some fuzz on it which I cleaned and it still does not work. The FSM says to use a sensor check tool but most of us do not include this in our arsenal of tools. I will be away this weekend so testing is on hold. BUT, I can access this site. Just looking for any ideas before I get back. OH how much do the speed sensors run also. I wish I had a good and bad sensor so I could check ohm values. Well I will keep Ya'll updated. | ||

Your speedo sensor is toast. If cleaning the fuzz off didn't bring it back to life it's dead. The latest part revision has a built in voltage regulator to prevent this happening in the future. Brad | ||

Well I ordered a new speed sensor yesterday from one of the sponsors (Hal's HD) and received excellent service. I will replace it as soon as it shows up. It was about 54 bucks + shipping. The saga continues and have a wonderful 4th of July and stay safe. | ||

The new one works just fine and I also tried to test the old and new one against each other but they both tested open between all 3 pins. So you just have to buy a new one to see if the old one is bad. A little info for the masses. | ||

2001 M2Cyclone-I have replaced speed sensor @3500mi. then @ 4500mi. due to not registering mph or mi. Now @ 8000mi. I started engine only to shut it off when I smelled smoke. The sensor probe was partly melted. I removed sensor and re-installed the last old one. Bike runs fine,but of course no working speedometer. Is this routine for this part or do I have a underlying problem. | ||

Hey what about the wiring harness that plugs into the new senser and wires. Look at them maybe. And get back to us all. |
