I just added a V&H slipon, Screamin Eagle ham can, 190 main ,48 pilot, needle clip is two slots from bottom of needle. air screw is 2 turns out. I am getting a little blubber at low to mid range rollon.
upper rpm is good, idle is okay, just a little weak in the low to mid range. Should I go to a 45 pilot? any fine tune ideas? Thanks Guys!

Probably a little too fat in the low to mid range. If you're at or near sea level, I'd try a 45 pilot for starters and see how that works out as far as throttle response and resistance to pinging.

What air filter is in the ham, a K&N type?

Did you drill out the slide vacuum port or is it stock?

Also, did you arrive at the air screw being 2 turns out by just setting it to 2 turns or did you set it dynamically by putting it halfway from where RPMs begin to drop by turning it in and out?

just backed the screw out 2 from closed, the filter is a K&N type. I didn't do anything to the slide port.. can you fill me in on the details of doing that? Thanks

I changed the pilot today to a 45, & added another 1/2 turn to the air screw. It made almost no difference. Seems to run the the same as before, Any ideas?

Here's a source of info for tuning the stock carb. Keep in mind that the mods in that site are just suggestions, they are not set in stone, probably because they are intended for heavier Sportsters and not Buell sport bikes.

In general, if you are removing restrictions from stock components like adding a freer flowing exhaust and air filter, you don't want to go too far from stock in the carb settings.

And you might find that the engine will be the most responsive with settings slightly on the lean side rather than on the rich side.

But to get the most benefit from tuning, I'd look into where the timing is set and, if it is not dead on the money at the stock spec timing mark, advancing the timing slightly by 1 or 2 degrees.

Still can't get this to run right..
I an now at a 45 pilot, raised the clip in the needle to the middle slot, it runs better, but still seems rich below 3500 rpm.
more noticeable after full warm up.
Anyone got any thoughts? should I go smaller on the pilot jet? Thanks

could it be the size of the needle (diameter) ? making it too rich at 1/4 throttle
