I'm looking for an answer to this as well.
Installed drummer and bike still backfires.
I continue to do the "roll on" excelleration
the mfg'r told me to do (3k-4.2k) without results. Do I need to remap, buy a Buell
racing ECM or what?

the ecm is constantly updating at all times.

with in the first 10 miles at hwy speed it should of learned the new flow. and adjusted the afv.

its avg from 12 to 30% tps 2300 to 5500 rpm on a stock 03 to 07 unless someone moved the closed loop learn table. not gear related. the closed loop table is a larger table. but note the ecm learns in closed loop as well as open loop. one it learns fast the other slower.

many seen this as a issue in directlink trying to keep the fuel at 13.4 where the ecm would override it and back the afv down causing poor running in lower rpms and ect.

hope this target learn actual zone helps. its not gear related as some post. its fixed to rpm and tps. then agv's readings over time and updates the afv. from there its a loop system written constantly loop.
