I have a 1997 S3 and i had a leaky seal on the mainshaft where the pulley is on the right side of the bike. So i replaced the seal and filled my primary back up..this was in a parking lot and later i find out that i overfilled the primary. Anyways i get the level right and now my clutch is dragging. It moves forward a little when in first with the lever pulled to the bar. Also downshifting is difficult at times and neutral is almost impossible with the bike running. Any ideas? Basket? plates? Sounds like a clutch cable adjustment is in order. I would also check the primary chain adjustment. | ||

Two questions then, 1) What kind of oil did you put in the primary? 2) When was the last time you lubed the clutch cable? | ||

It was some 10-30 oil my friend had in his car. I usually run Lucas 20-50 in it. Is there a possibility that the plates are just gummed up? | ||

That 10-30 may not be compatible with what you used to run in it. I'd suggest draining that stuff out and putting your usual oil in the primary and see if that helps. If that strange oil may have gummed up the plates, then it may take a short period of running with the usual oil to normalize the plates and rid the old oil out followed by a final drain and refill with your usual oil. |
