I hear a wide array of prices people pay for these bikes... I want to either get a XB12SCG or a 1125CR. I would also consider a City. the only reason I like the CR is the liquid cooling, I don't want to ride downtown and sweat to death at the stop lights.

but I hear some guys that claim 3K off of retail on the 1125 line and about 2k off the lightning line. an truth to that? where do you go for the best deal? my local shop wont budge on price at all. I am in Michigan but am willing to travel. new 08 or 09 makes no difference to me for an XB but I think I want an 09 1125 for the new mapping.

thanks guys

FYI -

You won't be any cooler on the CR due to the liquid cooling.

Oh no! Well thanks for the info Kilroy, although it does make me a little sad having my bubble burst, that little tidbit will save me a few thousand dollars.

Well, the '09s may be a bit better, but I know the frames on the 08s would get so hot that they could fry the thighs right thru your pants. This may have been reduced on the 09's (which includes the CR). I know that the ones I have test ridden were both very hot. Great in the winter, not so much in the summer.

you know I did hear about that issue, I didn't realize that it was heating up the frame as well. I would hear the occasional remark about burning legs and such but was under the impression that it was just an engine overheating issue. from what I am told it has been taken care of in the '09's. I rode an 1125r for nearly 30min and pushed it fairly hard on and off for over half the ride and never had an issue. (other than the scary fast nature of the bike and a soggy fork) a few unintentional roll on wheelies at way to fast trying to catch a screaming eagle v-rod stage two that shot off without warning while I was still stuck at an intersection. I am not a Squid and like to keep both of my tires down... I only lifted it a few inches until proper weight transfer was achieved... but every time the tire came up I wasn't even trying, slow roll on with a little clutch slip. I am HOOKED! but after the ride all was well. no burns. not even that hot on the left side. i would hope that the CR is the same way.

Look at it this way. it's the bike telling you to "FILL UP". lol. i love my 05-cityx you could also buy the protective frame sleeves which should take a few degrease off of the leg and make it tolerable.

A bit late now since that post was a few months back, but I am picking up my new '09 XB12Ss this week for $8,703 and no freight and setup nonsense, either. Some dealers seem to enjoy paying interest on models that sit for months gathering dust. Other dealers would like to rotate stock and build a larger customer base.

Sorry, but ROFL!!! Looking at a few of those I can only laugh and see a definite bias toward price inflation to maybe sell a good story. I see quite a few I've looked at over the last year, not necessarily Buell, that have sold for quite a bit less(thousands) than the quotes shown. The NADA value they claim is nothing close to what I see when I pull up the NADA value. I see a '09 1125R as $8000 average retail and $6080 low retail. That is "RETAIL", not consumer to consumer, and retail is much different from what I've seen over various lines, not just Buell compared to these values. Ultimately it is a base value, but the value is obviously what someone can get from the seller, or the seller can get from the buyer. I suppose I have overstepped my rights by questioning price, but too bad. Toss me out, buyers have rights too, last time I checked.

Looks ugly to me also... listed the 9sx I just sold for about $1000 more than anyone would have given for it, and listed the XB12X I just bought for $2000 more than I paid for it.

But it listed a 90something KLR-250 for like $600... no way you will find that deal on a solid runner, that was probably close to $500-$800 under valued.

Thanks 10tank,

All I am trying to get out there is that most of the bikes on this forum are priced out of the market.

We have to remember that DEMAND, not enthusiasm sets value.

I am totally aware of the tactic that the bike has to be for sale to keep momma, or whomever happy. Just let everyone know that is what you are up to with a "this is just a feeler" or "the wife says it has to go" Then, when your asking price is 2k over value we all get it. We read your story, look at your pics, hope the ploy works for you and move on.

When someone is asking why there is no interest in their bike for a "steal it now" or "blowout" price that is hundreds or thousands over a published, (by one of the most respected motorcycle publications on the planet) base average market value, (that was provided to them by the N.A.D.A.) I just don't see how anyone is served by telling them to hang on and a buyer will come along.

They might, it is true. However...

What is wrong with low prices? Think how many new Buellers might be generated by a good selection of $2k priced tubers. The more of these machines we can keep from being chopped, the more of them will be around later.

Or, if someone throws an offer on a bike that has been for sale for over a month with absolutely zero visible purchase interest that once shipping is paid would put the price of the bike over NADA could we please not attack them for having their head up their arse? Really, who's head appears to be up whose ass here? I'm confused.

I stand behind my opinion that good x1 will sell for around $2k.

If I am wrong, not if you THINK I am wrong, please let me know.

That link should work, The first one didn't after I copy and pasted. This thread was removed from the classifieds yesterday and when I came back to my computer this morning it was still up so I was able to salvage it.

I don't know if anyone will find it buried here in the knowledge vault but here it is.

I guess industry standard pricing isn't something that pertains to motorcycles for sale on this board. I'm kidding, I'm kidding oh forum masters. "Please be patient with me, thank you for not giving up on me, I will try to do better", dollar for the movie.

This is a better place for it b/c as a new bueller myself I lurked for 3 months on this board soaking up information before I even started posting. One of the things I noticed has how long bikes sat on the board for sale.

Cash money offers that I thought were fair would be met with attacks for "low balling". Usually from third parties that did not have a dog in the fight other than their perception.

My point is: Here is what the published industry standard value for motorcycles is right now.

Just as an example:

A 97 M2 Cyclone in good shape, with average miles, clean title, not worn out tires that is ready to ride is worth about $1700 bucks.

If a bike like that is for sale for $3k and the seller is asking why no interest, I see nothing wrong with answering them with a $1500 offer. It is then time for the seller to evaluate their situation. Do they want to sell. They are obviously not going to be getting what they want out of the bike but do they want the bike or 15 hundo.

I do not see where at that point it anyone else's f'n business. If you have a bike just like it that you know is worth Five Grand, who cares. Unless you are ready to up the offer and be truly involved keep your fingers to your self and let the transaction happen or not.

New Buellers and old: Low Ball away, lets get some of these units moving around if people are really wanting or needing to sell, let them. Ignore the peanut gallery.

I didn't get the x1 from ebay in my "watch" category so I can't see if anyone bid on it. Was anyone else watching?

I have a 2009 1125 CR. I have almost 5500 miles on it so far this year. I have no issues with the bike making me HOT... I have ridin a 1996 Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster for over 100,000 miles. That will make you hot in stop and go traffic. I owned a 2004 lightning, which did make my right ankle a little warm. Turning my leg out a little helped. I would not suggest buying a CR, They are mine, I WANT THEM ALL: )!!!!
