I have been reading through all headlight mod threads to find what I wanted to do, but finally came up with one solution to get both headlights to always be on, and also to allow me to switch on a headlight modulator when I want it. It involves buying a Kriss "Double Eagle Illuminator" model H77000 http://www.kriss.com which is pricey, but is really well engineered and does the job right. I had to walk through the wiring with George at Kriss, because the modulator won't work right for a Buell unless you use the orange running light wire for the low beam instead of the yellow, but once we got that straight, it was easy. So, switched to low beam, I have both lamps on, and the high beam has lower intensity to match more closely the low beam brightness. Switching to high beam during the day, the low beam stays on and the high beam modulates at the standard legal rate. At night, switching to high beam gives me low still on, and high at full intensity (illegal to modulate lights at night). To do all the wiring just up from the white plastic wiring clip behind the windscreen, I cut the 4 wires (black/ground, white/high, yellow/low and orange/running light spare) and connected the Kriss unit in line, using Posi-lock connectors. One long red wire from the Kriss unit also has to run back to the battery (+) terminal, so you will need to run it along with the other wire bundle back under the airbox cover. The Kriss unit will sit in under the windscreen just fine. I am sure someone could come up with a combination of the "switch yellow and orange wire" mod that Speedkills described so well http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/377314.html?1239805947 and then adding in a different, maybe less costly modulator, but I thought the Kriss unit was so well thought out and engineered that it would be worth it to get my headlights the way I want them. | ||

Thanks for the tip. I followed your advice and purchased the H77000. You mentioned that you cut all four wires. What did you do with the yellow one? Did you attach the yellow/red wire from the H77000 to the orange/running light and leave the yellow one alone? A wiring diagram would be great! Thanks again for your help. | ||
