On initial application of the front brake when coming to a stop there is a clunk from the front end.
It can also be detected when you push the bike and apply the front brake.
It seems relatively minor and can be heard rather than felt.
Handling seems fine [I know what knackered or loose steering head bearing feel like]
This morning I checked everything from the triple clamp bolts, bar clamps axle pinch bolts etc.
I also tried to check the steering head bearings but I am only familiar with tapered roller bearings which rely on a threaded collar to get the tension correct.
My Lightning does not appear to have tapered bearings or at least it does not appear to have the threaded collar.
Is this the case and can any one suggest where else to check?

A warranty claim when the dealer is 60 miles away is a real PIA and I am used to doing most things myself.

Any help would be appreciated

Check front isolator and other engine/tranny mounts.

Check brake pads and caliper and rotor/disk; are they properly secured? If so, then check steering head bearings; front end must be off the ground and free to turn. Grasp forks and pull fore-aft to detect any slop. Turn forks/wheel assy thru full left to right and back; this should require some slight effort. If the front feels too loose the bearing preload may need adjusted.

Strongly suggest investing in OEM service manual.
