Just wondering what you guys do to keep your wheels looking new? I have black and I just cleaned them with Black Magic wheel cleaner. Did it 3 times and they are still dirty. Black shows it alot. | ||

I gave up on my black wheels, could never get them to look good. I went with the PM wheels from St Paul HD from ebay. Now just a rag and some windex. | ||

Oh man, don't ever use Windex on polished aluminum wheels! Windex is for glass not aluminum. The chlorine or whatever the active ingredient in Windex is will damage the metal's finish and shorten the life of the polished surface, eventually making it harder to keep that like-new look. I used to use Windex on my PM's until they started to corrode and look like my aluminum framed lawn chairs.  Now I use a mild car wash specific soap for cleaning and occasionally go over them with a high quality metal polish like Adam's Metal Polish. This stuff is non-abrasive and imparts a "final polish" luster which also provides "wax-like" protection (but is not wax) that shields the finish from the elements. It may cost more than Windex, but it definitely won't ruin your wheels. Note: a lot of the car nuts around here prefer Adams stuff over Meguiars or Mothers, but it's all good. | ||

Sparky - Thanks for the heads up. This is my first set of billet wheels. I had been using windex on all the chrome on the Duce. I sure would suck for all the billet parts that I just spent weeks polishing tarnish. I have always used Semichrome and will hit those parts once every few month with it. | ||

I used Isopropyl Alcohol to clean polished Aluminum between Semichrome sessions. Cheap about fifty cents a bottle and I use a leftover pump sprayer from a empty Simply Green bottle. Removes bug juice and water spots without streaking. | ||

The Mothers wheel polish also worked great on my PM wheels. Gives it an almost mirror like finish. I don't have the Power Ball gismo but the smaller size Ball should also be very effective for tight spots. |
