Hi Guys,

My bike seems to have about at least a quarter of an inch freeplay in the throttle handgrip, which I'd like to remove some. I've read the manual procedure and was wondering if its the idle cable that dials out the freeplay or adds it? e'g you adjust the front throttle cable so its just hitting the throttle stop then dial in your freeplay with the idle cable making sure there's no binding from lock to lock have I got this right? let me know if not.

Many thanks

Cheers

Tobycat, Glad you asked this question. My Uly has the same freeplay. I just got my manual and just glance at it. I don't know if your adjustments that you mentioned would work or not. Are they the same as the manual? Once I get time, I'll try the manual procedure and see if that helps. That is unless someone else has a tip or better procedure. That freeplay can be a bother.

Thanks Snojet for the post, I know this is a simple (should be) procedure but I've read a few threads here and elsewhere and can't get a definitive answer sure it might be trial and error however I recently played around with these cables and ended up making a royal hash of it so I thought I'd seek further advice. Is it the same procedure as when adjusting Harley throttle cables?

Couldn't tell you how to adjust the Harley cables. This is my first American made bike. Sort of embarrased to say that, but it is true. Like I've said before, when I get time (hard to come by) I will tackle the problem. Hopefully I can adjust out the freeplay. Tobycat1 give it a shot, just follow the manual. Then report back.
