Which way do you turn the oil filter to remove it? Do you turn it towards the back of the back or towards the front? Whoever installed the last one over did it. Now most of the filter has been eaten away by various removal methods so there's only a little left at the top.

Look at the filter from the bottom end. The end that doesn't screw on. Turn it counter clockwise.
The outer edge of the filter, closest to the brake pedal needs to go toward the back of the bike.

They must have used red locktite!
