anybody got a trick for locking down the gears under the right case cover. In order to replace an oil pump drive gear.

Put the transmission in 5th gear and use a wrench on the output sprocket nut. The maximum specified torque (45 or 21 LB*FT dpending on model year?) applied to the nut on the pinion shaft will do no harm to the drivetrain.

And if you haven't gotten the old one off, heat the nut to soften the lock-tite.
