Hello fellow Buell riders : ) I just recently purchased a Racing ECM module and had a Harley Davidson dealership try to install it. The next day i received a phone call from the dealership saying that the bike just didn't run right. They i would need a new exhaust system and high flow K&N air filter for it to work. Keep in mind that they never rode the bike. They just let it sit there and idle. Of course I didn't want to purchase all these parts at the time. So i told them to put the stock ECM back on there. Well once they installed the stock ECM the bike started idling very high. My question is should i really need a new exhaust system for the ECM to work correctly even if it is just idling. It just seems like these parts should only affect the ECM performance unless the bike is in motion. Any help or advice of any kind would be much appreciated : ) Thanks guys!!

The race ecm is designed to work with high flow exhaust and air filter.
The fact is, anytime the ecm is replaced, a tps adjust is necessary and it has to be done correctly. An improperly adjusted tps will exhibit problems like you described.
