I see some other wheel bearing post but not concerning this issue.Have any of you noticed the outer races of all bearings rusting? I have a 2008 XB12S with 3600 miles and they were not that way when i bought it. As long as the inside doesn't look that way i think i'm ok. Any one else have rust? My bearings dust seal are colored orange, some in the dealership now are orange and blue any difference? They are not loose or worn out at this point anything to worry about or just another one of those buell quirks?

The bearing races are made of steel and will rust quickly. Mine rusted in a couple weeks. I also have the orange seal bearings and at 10000 miles the rears are on the verge of failure. The fronts are still good. Do a search on wheel bearings and you will find a lot of good info.

OK thanks. search on this web or yahoo etc?I have been trying to stay ahead of rust by applying WD-40 to races after washing seems to have stopped rust progression.
