Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket hard saddlebags for the S3/S3Ts?
I'm getting a '98 S3 this weekend and Buell orphaned the tuber hard bags which I understand weren't all that wonderful to begin with.
Thanks

Steve:

There are no aftermarket bags for the S3. One idea is to look at a really high quality bag and think about a creative way to mount it. I'll bring along one of my BMW bags next time I'm in your area next weekend.

Court:

Does this mean the factory aren't supplying any hard bags for S3Ts anymore? I was planning on ordering a right hand saddlebag - perhaps I'll have to re-think.

Loon.

Steve; what were you going to use the bags for?
- weekend touring
- long distance touring
- daily rider/commuter

That would guide your choice of bags.

Court - thanks. The Beemers are Krauser bags, I believe. Perhaps I'll snag a set of those and make one of my talentless buddies weld something up.
Tboltloon - order quickly if you want new as they're obsolete. If you need help locating one in the US, let me know.
Henrik - slim lid size would probably be the size to go with. I've got lots of soft luggage but want to go with hard bags for a change.

Thanks Steve - I'm currently trying to see if I can locate any here in England. Given the rarity of S3Ts here, I may need to take you up on your offer - I'll keep you posted! (I'm assuming that most US suppliers don't have a problem with shipping to europe if the shipping costs are paid up front?)

Hepco & Becker bags might work with some mounting bracket creativity. They're a German product; very durable..looks are kind of utilitarian but grow on you after awhile

Somewhere recently I saw a picture of an S1 with touring bags. The bags were mounted on the some line as the tail section. The cool part was that they weren't attached/resting on the tail section. Has anyone seen this bike? Does anyone know who manufactured the bags?

I purchased an 02 S3T , silver w/ purple frame. It came w/ the matching hard bags, but absolutely NOTHING to mount to or with. I honestly don't even know what is needed? I am assuming some kind of frame work and ? any help is appreciated! Please email me at upsman@cableone.net with any info. Thanks! Rob

I can personnally vouch for Tour Masters XL slant saddle bags. A little small, but they look good and fit perfect. A new saddle bag is ~ $400 and there is a tang in the lock that will fail and leave you with having to destroy the bags to open it up. : (

Personally I am quite disappointed with man darn deep bags for my S3T. After having the bags replace at 10k they have cracked again. I contact Buell and they basically told me that they could sell me another set of inner cases but they only have a 90 day warranty. So basically I am sure that they will crack again. Now I know that there is a great write up on reinforcing the bags but we should not even have to do that to our bikes. Buell should stand behind the product...Sorry everyone it just bothers me. If I could get an aftermarket hard bag on this bike...I would give it a shot. There has to be something better than this bags. Has anyone tried putting any aftermarket hard luggage on a S3T?

My wife even said could we get a Uly and I am reluctant because of my issues with this S3T...I wonder if there have been any issues with the Uly...
