I've built a ECM-Palm cable, have ECMSpy installed on the palm, and everything is working great. I have a few basic questions related to logging & moving data around with the palm:

Log file setup
ECMSpy on the palm gives the option of logging to either a text file or a bin file. Which is the best to go into MLV with? I can log to either and I can bring the text file into MLV; what's the BIN file for?

Also, when selecting text file, ECMSpy asks what enrichment factors I'd like included in the open loop gego calc. What is the correct combination there? The options are any and all of AFV, WOT enrichment, Open Loop enrichment.

Movement of the log files
This may be more a palm question than an ECMSpy question. ECMSpy stores the log files on the SD card. Can I sync those files up to the PC? So far, I'm just pulling the SD card and using a card reader. Seems like the long way around when there's a sync cable right there between the palm & the PC.

I have this posted over on the other forum as well. If I get a response there first, I'll post it here so we have record of it here as well.

Thanks in advance,

Binary logging is faster and keeps all information sent from the ECM. Logging to text uses only a subset and is slower.

AFV only, this is Phil's recommendation and it's the only variable enrichment.

Can I sync those files up to the PC?

No. Data files are never synced.

I have this posted over on the other forum as well.

Must have missed your posting in UKBEG then ...

Thanks for the feedback. You didn't miss anythin on UKBEG, I missed posting it there. I had it over on buelletinboard.

So, one other question regarding the bin file. How do I convert the BIN file for use in MLV? I see the converter in PalmSpy. Is that the right place to convert it? I don't see a similar convert in ECMSpy on the PC.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I'm gonna get caught up on the UKBEG forums : )

How do I convert the BIN file for use in MLV?

There's a small tool for it, downloadable from the spy site. It's possible to use the converter of palmspy also, but it's running very slow. The PC tool is much faster and the resulting msl file contains hints for the mlv which records to ignore because of accel enrichment or decel fuel cut.
