ok. so i have an 04 xb12r and i want to buy a race ecm. i dont have any mods yet but i plan on a jardine rt-1 slip-on and an open air box kit before i do the ecm. what i would like to know is if anyone knows which one of these will give me the most power or the best maps? | ||

Just get ECM Spy and a cable here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/410160.html?1236532293 You can just copy a race ecm's eeprom onto your stock ecm. Much cheaper than the $200+ for a new ecm. | ||

Hey I just got a 2003 xb9s with the pro-series race exhaust. I believe the filter and ecm are stock. It seems to have much less bottom end than it should and backfires alot when downshifting. Im guess it needs the race ecm? Any help would be great. -Jordan | ||

Like I said earlier. Besides you have the reset your TPS and AFV with the change to the ecm. | ||

I had thought of that as well but I dont know where I would get the race file and if I did I don't know if it would be trustworthy. It seems like if it wasn't right it would mess up alot. I don't mind paying the $188 as long as it's right. | ||

I had the same concerns also, but got a race map for my bike from a fellow member. Check this website out: http://xoptiinside.com/home They do really good work on the XBs. They might even have a map that is tuned for the mods you have. | ||

I actually already talked to him. But it is $99 for the map from him and $40 for a cable I think so its not much cheaper than buying a whole new ecm. | ||

Wow I feel retarded. I just bought the xb9s two weeks ago and just assumed it only had the pro series exhaust. But in fact it has the race ecm and k&n filter too. So, I would think it wouldn't have the probs its having. It seems to have very low bottom end and backfires alot when downshifting. I had just heard and seen vids of these bikes with crazy bottom end and doing power wheelies. Mine wont do a power wheelie at all. Seems like something must be wrong? Any ideas? Need help! First thing you need to do is a TPS and AFV reset. While doing that you should also check to see if there have been any trouble codes. I have an X1 and can do wheelies even when I don't want to. But you have 300cc less than me. Try doing a clutch up wheelie, while accelerating grab the clutch and let it go quickly, that should get your front end up. Get some frame sliders and good riding gear in case you dump the bike. Getting the ECM Spy software and cable is a must have! Just today I got my bike out of winter storage and ready for the summer. I hooked up the ECM Spy and found that my TPS was off, just from sitting for 3 months. A quick reset and off for a ride. The AFV is a learned value, your bike figures out the required value to keep you from running lean or rich. The best way is to take a ride in 5th for at least 5min around 65-70mph keeping it as steady as possible. | ||

I can do a wheelie by slowing down and then gassing it in first. But it wont in second. With the mods it should have somewhere close to 100 hp and 80ftlbs flywheel so I would think with the short wheelbase it would do wheelies no problem. I am def ordering a cable very soon. I bought the bike 2 weeks ago and rode it 120 miles home and just rode it to the beach and back (300 miles each way). It rode smooth and never had any problems. It just feels very weak on the low end. Maybe by running diagnostics on ecm spy I can figure it out. If anything else comes to mind that would be great. Thanks again for the help! |
