Plenty on this in the archives but it bears a refresh given the recall on XB clutch cable retainers.

My retainer busted, allowing the clutch cable boot to rest on the header. This created a gaping hole that, along with the design flaw/funnel effect of the boot as installed, filled my primary with water. I ride in Houston so I get plenty of miles in torrential rain.

Dealer is replacing the retainer and boot today. I plan to pack the boot with grease and seal the top and bottom with zip ties to prevent a recurrence.

Probably rode 250 miles with Whole Milk for primary oil.

Use Marine grade grease because it sheds water. Or silicone grease. Or di-electric grease.
