Ever since I purchased my XB12s (2006 model,) last October, I've noticed a miss at approximately 2,000 RPM. It's most noticable when the engine is cold but is still there (very slightly) when warmed up. The bike would always start well and settle into that nice V twin idle.

The reason for the thread, is that since last Saturday, when I did a 200 mile run (hot day then caught in a thunder storm on the way home) the miss has become more pronounced. The idle has now dropped from 1,000 RPM to a rough 600-800 RPM and when you rev the engine to say 3,000 RPM you can still feel the miss, where in the past it would dissappear.

Any thoughts guys?
Regards,
Bill

Could the engine miss be caused by the TPS being out of adjustment?

If it has been a while, a TPS reset is a good start. Then check/replace your plug wires. The thunderstorm gave a clue.

Thanks for the heads-up. I ended up buying the VDST from Technoresearch, loaded it onto my PC and found that the TPS was out of adjustment! Once set correctly, I took the Lightning for a 120 mile ride last Sunday and it was just great. Ran sweet all the way down to 1,000 RPM in 5th. Better than brand new. Pays to do it yourself as the TPS had recently been checked by the service center Hmmm.
