Questioned my dealer about the position of the front weights.

The response from Harley Australia is that they are only put under the rotor for cosmetic reasons.

Anyone had this response from a dealer in the states.

Mine are placed (stick on) on the outer edge of the rim kind of like a car tire.

Using stickon weights, I place them where centrifugal force helps to hold them in place.

Actually Buell has specific details on balancing wheels. I do believe this is just to limit the total amount of weight that is required. Either way the rim has a painted dot on the inside drop center that is meant to be 180 degrees from the painted dot on the tire you are installing (some wheel manufactures you are to line up with valve stem but not Buell) and the wheel weight are meant specifically to go on the rotor side to. This is not for cosmetic reasons. Its cause the the wheel was engineered to balance the best this way. On my own personal bike I hate the look of wheel weights so I spin the tire on the rim till I balance zero or close to it as possible.
