I have a 99X1 and when I start it cold, the RPM's bounce about 200RPM. It has also died a few times. I recently replaced the battery and voltage regulator. Both check out fine. I have my theories, looking for more input. Thanks.

I had exactly the same symptoms on my 99 X1 sine the last early summer, but it also made in hot.

A fellow bueller german on here (Gunter) helped me a lot.

Turned out be a Fuel Pump blown.
This may not be your problem but it's an idea....

Before all, try make a fuel pressure test, it wouldn't hurt either.

Good luck!

Thanks for the idea. Actually my fuel pump is pretty new, actually installed it about 3 years ago. I will try a pressure test though and see. Any other ideas?
