Hey everyone, new (used) Buell owner, 2000 M2, 4700 miles, just bought it and have yet to be able to ride it, needs a few things like a new clutch cable and some light maintenance. Former YZF owner, a little less temperamental bike... the Buell seems to need a lot of attention. Anyway, I bought a bunch of stuff from the dealer where I purchased it (Cowboy Harley in Austin), 50 miles from my house and now realize they gave me 10R12A'a instead of 6R12A's. They knew what I was riding so I'm guessing that's the spec they show in their book??? or did they just mess up? Can I use the 10R12A? or am I looking at 100 mile round trip to exchange them?

My parts book shows 10R12 (stock #27661-00Y). My 2000 has Champions but my 2001 has the 10R12A's and my book is from 2000-2001 M2's. I hope that helps.

Check the recall/service bulletin section. I seem to remember reading that the plug spec was changed but can't remember to what right now.

10R12 (or equilivant) is the updated version. That's the one you want...

Interesting, I ordered the service manual so I don't have that yet, but the 1999-2000 owner's manual show 6R12A, I guess it was changed. Thanks for the help.

There was a Service Bulletin that came out some time after the printing of your manual, specifying the 10R12s as the recommended plug. If I can dig it up at home, I will post it.

Actually the service bulletin is contained here in the Electrics portion of the KV. Go down towards the bottom and you will see it pertaining to 2000 1/2 models. It indicates a change at that time to an engine temp sensor placed in the rear head and that all models should now use the 10R12 plug. Good old Badweb!
