I own a 2007 XB12STT. Bought it new in 2008 and put 5,000 miles on it my first year. I live in Central New York so i wont be riding again until spring. This is my first street bike so I don't have much riding experience (5,000 miles to be exact!). I am going to put new tires on before i ride it again. I am trying to decide which tires to use. It came from the factory with Scorpion Sync's. I was looking at the new Bridgestone BT-016 with different compound areas. Could anyone give some advice as to staying with the Scorpion Sync's or trying to find a better tire? Price is not an issue, I just want the best tire for aggressive street riding that will also last at least 4-5 thousand miles.

Sync's are great performing tires on a Uly/ST, and I have put 2 sets on my '06 Uly. Rear lasts me about 5K, but mileage all depends on the rider and the roads you ride on. They are great for mountain roads around here.
I did find the Sync's toasted the rear during an all day highway ride from NC to WV last year.
For this reason, I am putting on Michelin Pilot Road 2's this weekend. They are dual compound.
I have had bad experience (cupping in front)with Bridgestone on 2 different bikes, but never tried them on the Uly. In both cases, the problem went away when I tried a different brand tire on the same bike (a Suzuki GS and a Ducati ST2).
I have also had Pirelli Stradas and Metzeler Z6 sport touring (may have the name a bit off here) that worked OK, and all were about 5K miles for me on the rear, and double that on the front.
