I got home and had shut off the bike in a neighbors stall. He was arriving just as I glided in to his spot, so I re-started my bike without allowing the whole 4 second cycle in the beginning. Now the Check Engine light is on after I start the bike. Did I trip an error code by doing that? Or should I take it to a $tealership for a Diagno$tic??

06 XB 12R 8k miles

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!!!

Btw, the bike is running fine. I havent experienced any changes in the way it starts or handles. Just that the darn light comes on now after I start the bike!

You probably tripped an error code, I have the 1125r and it will do the same thing if you don't allow it to go through the start up cycle, the error codes that others have reported after doing the same are "low fuel pressure" on the 1125, not sure on the 12r.

BTW: on the 1125 if you shut it off, and restart allowing the full cycle the CEL goes away.

That's what I was thinking Cscutt. According to the manual trippin an error code becomes historic and will stop appearing after 50 rides.

Guess I need to ride more!

I am all for riding more, in the mean time if you want to clear the CEL disconnect you hot lead on the batt, and pull the break lever for 1min with the key on. That should clear it.

find a buddy with ecmspy. read the codes. then clear them. no cost that way if it comes back then look for a issue.

this is why ecmspy was mad in the first place as a diag tool.

if its a basic historic code and not a faught it will clear itself after 50 rides.
