Hi
Hope you can help.

I am in England and my first Buell.
Problem with engine running:

Rear exhaust glows red, front cool as soon as engine starts rear gets very hot front can still touch. Had trouble starting after battery went down. Smell of petrol when cold. Stalls until warm

Couple of things:

Fitted a tail tidy so used LED Indicators.
Washed Bike with hose.
Battery went almost flat:

Any ideas as dont want to take to dealer if anything I have done invallidates warranty.

Any help appreciated

Washing it and fitting LED's shouldn't void warranty.
Charge the battery; the FI system doesn't like low volts. And it sounds like the front cyl isn't firing. Most likely a fouled plug. Use the warranty.
And if you blip the throttle after star-up, before the engine warms up, a fouled plug is just about a certainty. Hope this helps, Dave

Thanks

Thanks for advice

The indicators I fitted have a too faster flash rate and someone to me the resisters ?in them were not compattable with the Buel electrics. The back LEDs worked fine when the orioginal fronts were fitted but bwhen I put the new LED fronts on the spped of flash increased. Some one told me it could affect the ecu ?

Called the dealer they had heared of no similar problems with the engine, I think the plug was fouled but the bike ran reasonably well when hot. When I re started it an hour later had the same problem.

Anyway thanks for the advice.

Kind Regards
Chris

+1 Akbuell

Do not touch the throttle on startup.

The ecm has a cold start enrichment at startup and this will give you way too much fuel if you touch the throttle as well which usually results in a fouled plug.

Switching to LEDs will cause the blinkers to flash at a faster rate. This is due to the lower current draw. You will have to change your flasher relay to compensate for the lower amperage. This also has nothing to do with the ECM.

Thanks for the advice.

I changed the indicators to Led with a resister in so flash rate fine.

Starting was due to battery fault and running was due to both plugs been fouled.

Changed plugs now runs fine.

Again thanks
