Friend of mine wants to put a chrome gearcase cover from a 97 onto a 2000 and later Buell.

The problem. the oil return passage from the crankcase is blocked by the gearcase cover on the older bike.

I am wondering if I can just relief that section of the gearcase cover to make it work or are there other differences in the gearcase cover....i dont have the parts available to physically look at them.

I know all about the gasket change ..that is not what i am asking. I am wondering if the cover change will be ok if I modify the 97 cover to work on the 2000. Pics would be helpful if you have em. So I can show my buddy and reassure him. that my thoughts are correct.
