On the M2's I'm told that the cams are the same as a Sportster as far as being a torque cam, on every other Buell besides the M2, the cams were more performance oriented. Will the other model cams "feel" more seat of the pants quicker? I understand you will loose torque and gain horsepower with this change, but is it that noticeable? And do the numbers show in et's? I like the torque, but I'm always riding with the Guy next door with a stone stock CBR 600, an 07, and of course He's quicker and faster, but I'd like to close the gap a little from 0 to say 80-90. And no I don't expect to stay even with Him, thats not even realistic to think. Although there are some on BWB that claim 120+ HP. and with the weight and HP. it should at least be quicker.

Your 1998 M2 won't benefit much from just a cam swap. You'll need higher performance heads as well. The stock Lightning heads aren't built for top-end performance. Thunderstorm and the XB heads are better suited for higher revving action.

If you are looking to race with the IL4's, you own the wrong bike.

I would not spend the money on cams unless you are ready to do a full motor package.. and it will take quite a bit to keep up in a straight line with your buddies bike... unless you get yourself one of those "claimed 120+ HP" Buells like mine :-) Then you kill them everywhere till your bike is topped out by gearing:-)

I do infact have the usual stuff, ie. Thunderstorm heads and pistons, the carb jet kit an S&S aircleaner, and V&H SS R can. And again its fine the way it is, it is bumped substantially over the stone stocker that it was when I first got it, I mean no flamethrower, but the usual stuff we all do at some point.

Torqd, Ill go with letting the PUP outrun Me here and there, but when we get in the twisty's I'll teach Him some respect, Hes a first year guy on the CBR and 22 years old, but He'll get faster, and put the boogers closer to the edge soon enough, untill then ....well it's all fun anyway. By the way Torqd, how's a motor like yours hold up? I still have alot of civility to mine, but each step does make it a bit more agressave, powerwise. It's something to take into consideration. Motors like yours, stressed more and all. are you addressing little things more? Oh....did You ever think about a Baker 6 Speed, mebe then a buck fifty or sixty? Take care..Rich

I have not had any problems... I pulled the motor apart after a few thousand miles to go higher compression and 643's and it all looked like new as it should have... never had any other problems...

If you build them right they should be fine.

The 6spd is out of my price range for what its worth... I like to race to a 100-120 or so... that way I always win; )
