For my non-Chatterbox helmet, I use Skull Candy ear buds. They fit mostly in your ear and have good noise canceling properties. I can listed to FM radio on my Zune (to get traffic reports during rush hour) quite well. The ear buds come with 3 different size "ear plugs" so fitment is fairly customized for an off the shelf product. The ear buds have a volume control on the cord as well.

They fit well when wearing a 2008 Arai full face helmet - no issues. This helmet is pretty quiet already - and with the Skull Candy ear buds, I don't hear any wind noise. I can still easily hear engine/traffic/etc (I don't have the volume very high).

I got my pair at Best Buy - $31.

Thanks for the review.

There are at least 8 varieties of Skull Candy ear buds, some bigger, some smaller, over-the-ear, in-ear, etc. Which type is yours?

I've tried Apple iPod In-Ear headphones. I didn't care for them. They have a tendency to slip out of the ear too easily and were a real pain literally when trying to remove the helmet, also an Arai full face.

I also tried the ear phones that came with my iPod. These are larger than the In-Ear buds so they sit in the "V" of the ear lobe. This puts almost their entire mass on the outside of the head. This makes them very difficult to stay in place while putting on the helmet and very painful when taking it off.

My hat is off to you -- Glad you are having better luck with these than I.

I got the Smokin Buds. They come with 3 different sizes of gel tips (I like the small ones - but the medium ones block more wind noise).

I tried the Apple . . . fair. I'm not using Bose and they are good, under an Arai RX7RR, for about 5 hours.

I got fitted a couple weeks ago for custom in-ear attenuator/monitors and got the call Friday that they have arrived. Eager to try them.

SCU bought me a set of Creative in-ear buds. They sound great (remember, these are 50+ year old shooter's ears we're talking about!), they seal perfectly, and they came with three extra sets of variously-sized "gaskets."

I'm real happy with them.

I use to buy Koss off the web for ten dollars if you are looking for cheap headphones then these sound good,

there are many choices when it comes to in the ear headphones and go from one speaker to three speaker headphones, I have a duel headphone drivers that were expensive but for me worth it,

I have not rode a long time with them so can not say if they will be comfortable in the long run but there are others that you have a ear mold made and send them in to the company and they will install headphones in them, this is the most comfortable of all the different rubber and foam inserts,

shure has single up to triple driver headphones and can be very expensive, my headphones was rated better than there 500 dollar headphones and only paid 300.

www.cyclegadgets.com have a good set of headphones for about 140 and can chose how long you want the wires but only have rubber tips but sound really good and blocks outside noise which on a long ride can be a problem and make you more tired.

I just bought headphones that do not go into the ear but are around 50 but got mine on sale for around 35 from www.aerostich.com so will be trying them out when I get them but do not think I will like them and will then give to my son.

+1 for the Skull Candy Buds. I have the $15 ones from Target and they work better than foamy earplugs even with the music off. They dont require you to crank up the music to hear either. I listen to my Zune at level 7 out of 30 and they are plenty loud.

Court, you ordered new custom in-ear attenuator/monitors.

How did they turn out as far as meeting expectations and overall usefulness?

Gee, if they sound and work great, the next big thing would be for someone to make them wireless. That could be just what the doctor ordered, so to speak.

Hey Guys I have those headphones and good price but they are uncomfortable in the long run,

I have a pair with duel driver headphones and are allot better but sticking things in my ear is not good and I just bought these from a company for 35 dollars and can not believe I like them, they go for around 50 dollars but Aerostich had a pair for 35, you can find them here

www.iasus-concepts.com

they do not have long enough wire for me but it disconnects right at the helmet which is good and is a two piece with a volume control and I have them wired to my gps which is boosted all the way up and sounds good, I could use just a little more volume but is probably just right if you do not want to go deaf like I am.

I will be plugging them into my bluetooth helmet module that I am waiting for so not sure about the volume will be like going into my bluetooth device.

I really did not think I would like them and was going to give them to my son and now going to order him a pair because I am keeping these, Helmet speakers that sound this good is hard to believe.

Just like breaks2late I went with Etymotic ER6I's after trying several others these seem to work best for me. If you find the rubber inserts that come with your buds a little uncomfortable try some aftermarket ones. http://www.sensorcom.com/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=348

Sparky:

They are waiting for me to pick up.

I went in and had the complete testing and fitting done. IT was interesting that folks in my age group all exhibit kind of a Woodstock syndrome in terms of hearing loss.

Mind is not bad but I've spent a lifetime of abuse ranging from sitting in front of the speakers at Mitch Rider and the Detroit Wheels, shooting, loud motorcycles, music and construction.

They've been ready and waiting for me for 5 weeks but I need to get by and get them. Dr, is in the Carnegie Ha;l building . . . may be a good place to test them, eh?

I'll post photos and a review when I get them. I'm using Bose now and they are pretty good.
