What happened to the S1 service manual here on the knowledge vault, I can't get anything more then the Table of Contents to open?

It's on this page. Go down to the 2007 posts and look for S1 Service manual. I just opened up the color foldout of the oil pressure system.

Maybe I'm not doing something right, but the one linked to in the thread titled "Service Manual - Buell S1 Lightning Service Manual" is only opening the table of contents for me. It doesn't seem to lead to any active pages though.

I'm scheduled to go pick up my first ever Buell, a '96 S1, next weekend. In fact, I just stopped by the bank today and got the cash for the purchase so I wouldn't have any delays for the trip next weekend.

I'd really like to find a downloadable pdf version of the service manual if available. I'd like to be able to go through the bike when I get it home and make sure all the basic stuff is checked so I can feel better about riding it on Sunday, then I'd like to be able to give it a more in-depth going over soon after.

Being a complete Buell (and HD) noob I'd like to start going through a service manual to familiarize myself with these bikes and the engine design so can anyone point me in the right direction to finding one?

The manual and its sub sections appear to be fine, I tested with Opera 11.61 and Internet Explorer 8, with Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.3, on Windows 7 64 bit.

Try updating your Acrobat Reader, I'm not sure off hand if there is a security setting to disable/enable links in documents.

Just a "heads up" . . . the printed manual is REALLY good and helpful.

There is an "official" .pdf (that was the only year) of the Service Manual.

I have, if I can find them, a case of the factory CD's. See if you can get this one in the knowledge vault to work, if not . . drop me a note.

You can also download the entire S1 service manual zipped up here:
http://www.ukbeg.com/archive/modules.php?name=Down loads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=2

Download, extract, open the Intro.pdf and it should be fully functional

Ah ha! I was using Chrome. Not sure why it wasn't working but it did nothing when I clicked on the table of contents links. In fact, some of them didn't even appear as active links. I just assumed that the links had been killed or were otherwise inactive for some reason. Then, after reading your post, I thought I'd try a different browser. POOF! Opened the page with IE and all was well. Who knows?

The link to the ukbeg manual download seems to have worked a treat! I downloaded and unzipped it easily. I did open the Intro page and use a couple of the table of contents links in the pdf and it appears to work fine. I'll probably look it over in more detail sometime next week when I have some time to kill.

I'm assuming that this contains everything that is in the one that I couldn't open with Chrome. Right?

Court,

Yeah, I understand that a real, paper and print manual is nice to have. In fact, I tend to be an old school sort that prefers REAL paper books and don't care for reading a book on a Kindle. Still like my moto mags in real paper too. I'll pick up a printed version at some point if I run across one, so I can have it in the garage for quick reference. But, in my day job, I have TONS of technical manuals that would be impossible for me to keep with me as I travel around. So, I've learned to use pdf manuals to the point that I now use them for most of my everyday uses.

I do all my own work on my BMW and most of my other bikes. The only time I've had a bike in a dealership shop in the last 20 years or so, other than warranty work, is to get my Duc's valves adjusted. But, I know nothing of these engines. So, I have a long way to go and this manual will be a huge first step to me learning the ins and outs of the HD engine design and the Buells in particular.

Thanks for the help guys!
