I've read posts about the engine light coming on and that I ought to figure out my trouble codes, but has anyone ever seen the check engine light come on and flash eleven times over and over again with a pause in between each set of eleven? I've also been advised that shorting out the wrong two pins could be very bad so I want to leave that option for last.

Everything is detailed in the Factory Service Manual. Pick one up and use it to de-code your error code(s).

You are very right. Referencing the service manual is the answer to so many questions. I've been putting it off but clearly it'll be something I should've bought as soon as I got the bike! The admin crew for this site should develope a popup that demands each user buy one.
