I would think you'll need to drill out the plug so you can adjust the idle..... Under 5,000 ft, I'd go with the 48..and ONE of those little washers, IF you're sure that the needle profile is such that it won't create rich or lean at some throttle setting. Best thing to do, I'd say, is use the "search" feature...I'm sure there a ton of guys that can give you exact numbers/settings. I have a LOT of jetting experience from riding/racing RD400's and RZ350's haven't dealt with carbed Buells, so don't have any starting point info to get ya going.. Have fun !! |

A #48 might be too rich (a #42 is stock)... I live at 600 ft in a fairly humid area (Georgia) and a #45 richened the mid-range enough for no popping on deccel. Unseal the idle mixture screw and baseline it at 2 1/2 turns out. It's a good idea to borrow some mic's or calipers from someone and measure the shim... I have mine set at .022". Record all your calibrations so you know where to go when dialing it in further. |

I borrowed some calipers & got 4 tiny washers from radioshack their 0.0170" should I use one &stick close to your .022? or double up at .034? |

I'm assuming you live at a higher elevation than I do, so start out with one shim at .017. Record all the settings... write them down somewhere so you know where to go (if you need to). If your gas mileage drops appreciably lower than 48-50 mpg, you'll know you've gone too rich. |
