Well, that would explain some of
the frustration--is there anything specific you need help with (unrelated to nicotine withdrawal, that is)?

I'd be more than happy to help you out -- if I can.

1. Visit the local drugstore and get some Commit lozenges, or gum, for the nicotine.

2. Your profile says you have the '02 M2 and I just happen to have the same year and model. It's one of the most reliable motorcycles I've ever owned and it is a Tq monster if you hammer it hard enough.

3. Post on what the bike's doing to get you so frustrated and there's plenty of folks on here that can help you work it out.

Well, the good news is that the intake seal change is cheap and easy.

Hang in there--once you get it sorted out, you'll love it.

What's the history on this bike--had it been sitting for a while before you bought it? If so, you might have some gunk in the float bowl. You'll find out when you change the pilot jet.

Listen to me carefully....I have been through the EXACT same thing, except I DID give up and sold the bike....new owner called me like 2 weeks later, told me what he found wrong and how cheap it was to fix it.. I was so F88^%!ING mad at myself I couldn't stand it.....please believe me when I say just take a few deep breaths and take it 1 step at a time....bike may have been really neglected by previous owner(s) and possibly has several things that have or will go wrong, but it's NOTHING YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH....hell, if ya have to go get some marlboro's to get THAT monkey off your back----I KNOW how hard it is to quit, I have tried diligently to quit 2 or 3 times, with no luck, and I WANT to quit bad !!!
If you have another form of transport, maybe just let the ol' girl sit a day or two, concentrate on the not-smoking thing, and then go back to the bike. I promise you that that will help- just get away from it for a while. I learned to do that, even though EVERY cell of my brain told me to fit-it ! fix-it ! fix-it!! At least one guy here has the exact same bike, and has offered to help so there ya go!! I'm sure several others have that bike or one very similiar, so there's a lot of comined knowledge to help ya get 'er done!!! Don't make the same mistake I did, I sometimes think about that bike (and what a dumb-ass I was for selling it) ....
Sorry so long, but I had to let ya know that you're not the first guy to face this sort of thing...probably won't be the last either. Good luck with the stopping-smoking too!!!

I quit smoking cold turkey 16 years ago this month.

The best advice I have to offer is that the craving to smoke usually lasts only for 15 minutes. Don't think about not smoking for the rest of your life, just think about not smoking for the next 15 minutes when you have that next craving.

Eventually (it took a long time for me... almost 1 1/2 years) you'll get to a point where you won't even notice not smoking and you'll be free of the addiction. But it took making it through each of those 15 minute cravings in that year and a half to get to that point.

Just take it 15 minutes at a time and you'll get there man. It feels good to be cigarette smoke free, and by now I must have saved enough money to have paid for my Buell!

Hell... that's a pretty good deal on paper.

YEP --cost is a big factor in my wanting to quit.

Chichiman,

First off, I don't like giving advice, so please don't take this the wrong way. These are just some thoughts I have about your situation, how I've handled things, and how I would handle other things. Maybe some of it can help you, maybe not. It's all subjective.

This isn't related to the bike, but I managed to quit smoking about 4 years ago (after being a 14 year smoker). I had, for lack of a better word, "nightmares" about smoking for about a year and a half. They eventually went away.

I quit cold turkey. I didn't use any of the store bought stuff. The last time I had a cigarette was when I was visiting a friend up in Buffalo.

When things got bad, I kept telling myself, "I'd really like to be able to tell my friend that I have not smoked since I last saw him."

Another thing that helped was I never said I quit. Just the simple fact of saying "I quit" added more pressure than I was prepared to deal with.

I admitted to my friends that I am a smoker. They would ask, "Well, how come I never see you smoke?" My response was, "I just don't feel like it today. Not today."

Silly as it may sound, those are what worked for me. No matter what avenue you take, you simply must be committed to the idea of a tobacco free lifestyle. Take it one day at a time, like others have said.

Everyone takes a different path to get there.

About your bike, The M-2 Cyclone is an incredible machine and it saddens me to hear bad things about it. I don't tell people what to do, but if it were me, I would dedicate my cigarette budget to my "Cyclone Revival Budget". Since I'd already be accustomed to having that money spent each month, I would think of my bike every time I light up a cigarette and say to myself, "I'm hurting myself by doing this when I could be using this money to help my bike live again."

Just my thoughts.
