so I bought my xb12r new in 2007 0 miles. first 1000 miles rocker boxes leaking, push rod base gaskets leaking, horn/brake light fuse blows, headlights work intermitantly, just died while riding down the freeway. 3 times original dealer said there is no problem normal opperation for Buell's. Well this isn't my first rodeo took it to a dealer recommended by customer service, 5 weeks later and $1200.00 in warranty parts and its still not fixed, same problems. anyone else experiencing these same problems?? any advice would be appreciated. At this point in time I think that all Buell products are JUNK and WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER.

Does that mean you'll never post another also?

I've had my Buell for 8 years and the only problems I have had have been induced my me. Sounds like you have a Friday bike, which is unfortunate but it does happen occasionally (to all manufacturers, by the way).

Regardless of all that, you should not be getting the service "runaround" that you are getting, and too many Buell owners have gotten over the years.

Maybe someone here can recommend a competent dealer in your area where you can get good service. Also, look into the lemon laws in your state, this may or may not qualify.

1000 miles or 10,000 miles? 1,000 miles, you got a lemon, 10,000 miles, as far as electrical, check your ecm, you state its remapped, and also check the wires going past the steering head for chafing, sounds like a short in the system to me, and if you do your research here on badweb instead of coming out blasting the product in your first few posts, you will find that there have been several folks that have had similar problems in the past.

The reason I mention the ECM is because a good friend of mine had a similar problem with his 07 Uly where it would cut off on him at undesirable times, it would usually start back up within a few minutes.
after nearly 3 weeks in a local shop, they changed out the ECM, and to my knowledge he hasn't had anymore problems out of it.

If you kinda know the tech thats been working on your bike, see if he could/would be willing to call another tech at a different location to swap notes and see if he is just overlooking something. My buddy got his taken care of by the Buell tech at Earl Smalls Buell/H-D around Atlanta Ga, I think the guys name is Scott, but I'm not real sure.

Me, I have an '04 bolt with 20,000 smiles on it, no oil leaks as of yet, and no major issues that weren't self inflicted.

And if you just want to get rid of that machine you call JUNK, I'll give you a couple hundred dollars for it and ALL its problems.

Either way good luck, and I hope things work out for you.

Bike needs a few fixes...but mainly needs a new dealer.

Agree with deadduck and rick. First dealer of mine was terrible, and after 1k service bike was also terrible. they also adjsuted the headlight by forcing it upwards. didnt' look for adjusting bolt. Anyway get a good dealer with a wrench that likes buells. When they are running well they are fine machines.

Well, I paid cash for my first buell...and if I"d had all the problems with it, that Chris has had with his I would be one pissed off white boy, I assure you......pay that kinda money and all ya got was problems??? Naw, I bet MOST folks here would be PO'd too...however, on the other side of that coin is the fact that I'm on my second Buell now, have had NO problems with either one, , yeah I think they're great. Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say cut the guy a little slack, probably just has to vent the frustration. Chris, I am truly sorry you got such a "bummer. bad deal, lemon". no one should be subjected to that, but it happens with every make and model, I've personally seen it with more than one brand of Japanese bikes as well. My advice (FWIW) is for you to call BUELL and do not take no for an answer. If ya call raising hell, you will GET NOWHERE. Have your facts (problems, dates, dealer names etc) all written down for quick reference. Don't quit until you talk to someone that at least sounds like they give a S--t......Ask politely if you can fax them a copy of all that stuff you already have written down of what has transpired since you purchased the bike. I agree, you shouldn't have to go this route, hell it was brand new.. but you are gonna have to be firm, persistent, and above all polite, in order to get this resolved.. keep us posted..and good luck !!
Sorry this was so long-

Well I like everyones thoughts! Thanks, I checked into lemon laws for bikes in colorado and it is not applicable. I have talked to Buell Customer service 3 time and you always catch more bees with honey than vinager, in other words im trying to kiss there ass, the dealer that has it(the second one) has replaced the whole main wiring harness, pulled the motor completly down base gaskets up and they tell me there is nothing wrong with the ecm.??? I myself have heard different. Reading all the different blogs it seems apparent that others are having the same problems. At this point in time I have no clue where to go or what to do.

pass a link of this thread onto Court here on the board. He may have a little insight of what your next step should be.
I do hope this works out for you.

FWIW, back in the dark ages, when I worked in a Yammy dealership I got sent to one of their schools for "Effective Service Management". I came away with a lot of really good information but one thing that struck me as peculiar was the instructor made the statement "There is no such thing as a "Lemon", there is only poor service". 35 years later, I know this is true. There is something wrong with the bike. Whether it is design or improper repairs, it can be repaired. Sounds to me like you are a victim of a lousy dealership. Just my 2 cents....}
