Just replaced the intake seals on my 98 Thunderbolt, and i'm having trouble keeping them seated. The bike has a lot of "hicups" when at cruising speed so I know the seals arn't seated properly. Does anybody know how to get them snug? |

DO you have the bolts torqued correctly? It is a bear to get at a few of those bolts (as you are aware by now).
I usually use my calibrated thumb when putting the intake back in, but in reality I have been lucky in getting it right so far. |

Please try using some (SIL-GLYDE) it lubricates and protects rubber. It will help them seat/slide into place easier. And available at most auto or hardware stores. And no I don't own the company or any stock. I just have used it for years as has my Dad. |

Ok when your putting the manifold intakes back together do it in the day or have a bright light so you don't miss the big F and R on the rings that bolt onto the cylinder head, and put them on backwards! OMG I felt like the biggest dumb@ss in the world! Fixed now runs like a scalded ape! |

Silglyde is the way to go.
No proof but my last two intake seal replacments have lasted longer then any others. Not by much so far but I'll know better next spring.. |
