Does anybody know if this unit will work on a '97 S1? Specifically, will the carb throttle cables work on an FI throttle assembly?

Thanks!

I can give a piece of the puzzle, but thats it.

Last winter I made the mistake of trusting the part number given over the phone for the "less reliable but closer" Buell dealer, who of course did not have the part in stock. So I gave the part number to my "very reliable but less close" Buell dealer, who of course did have it in stock.

The net effect was that I got XBR cables for my XBS. Aside from being about an inch too short, they were otherwise identical.

So, aside from length, the R and S cables are interchangeable, which isn't a surprise I suppose, but it at least keeps your thread busy : )

As another side note, I think I used an old barrel from either the M2 or the 9SX on my KLR 250. Had a bit of slop, but worked fine.

Thanks, Bill. What I'm really in need of is the curved plastic "spoon" that guides the cables off the throttle grip barrel and around the 90 degree bend that leads into the cable housings, where they screw into the plastic housing of the throttle control. Clear as mud, I know.

I can't find an exploded diagram of the throttle assembly, but I'm sure anybody who's ever had one apart knows what I'm talking about.

If somebody has a damaged throttle assembly I'd buy it just to get that "spoon".

If nobody knows, I will pop mine off (05 XB9SX) and shoot a picture for you, no problem. (I'm getting sick of taking apart that KLR anyway, it'll be a nice change of pace.)

Do the XB's use the same controls as the tubers?

Oh geesh. Sorry for confusing the hell out of a perfectly good thread. I looked at the picture in that auction, saw the traction grip, and automatically assumed it was a pull from an XB.

For the record, the question here is "will a throttle grip assembly for a fuel injected tuber interchange with a throttle grip assembly for a carb model?"

My guess is yes, particularly if throttle lengths are not an issue (which I don't think they will be for you, as you can re-use existing cables).

Sorry for muddling the water
