Fiance' has an Scg and she believes that the bars are causing her pain in the hands and forearms. I was wondering what bar riser kit or bar swap out would work on her bike to move the bars back and up a tad without needing to replace cable or hydralic brake line. I have bar risers on my Uly but I am not sure that they would work on the Scg. I am also thinking of just flipping over the bar holddown (from my Uly) and thus using it as a spacer. Will that work with the standard cables? thanks

ROXSPORT makes risers that allow you to move bars up, back, or both. I had them on my '07 Scg, have to "finaggle around for cables to work".... I now have an '05 Scg and am using the 1 inch risers available from American Sport Bike and they are just fine. Moving the bars UP was all that was really needed, that one inch made a LOT of difference for me, plus you have no problems with relocating/finaggling with cables. just a slight re-positioning of front brake hose....no big deal. Kit comes with longer bolts and is a simple bolt-on process. All the stuff I've bought from American Sport Bike has been first rate quality stuff, and the risers are no exception. Go ahead and tell your girl you're gonna give her another inch, should make her smile

08xb12scg-I used the top piece from my uly and longer bolts and put that under her bars and then put her bars back together. Cables worked just fine. She likes it but we have not gone for a long ride yet so we still need to road test the mod. This idea was a recommendation back in 06 for raiseing the uly bars. Packrat, if my above method does not work then I will try your idea. I also have used American sport bike on seval occasions and think they are a good outfit.

The Scg is a fairly upright bike, you dont want to go to much more upright as you lose the ability to be as aggressive in the twisties and also at higher speeds you want a little forward lean to counter the wind.

I ride an R6 and am looking to get an Scg and think the bar will be PERFECT. I am even looking to get a slightly taller (more comfortable) seat, which would lower the bar relative to me a little more.

If you had clip ons and were complaining thats one thing but I just cant see how the bars hurt, unless its an awkward position (buell XB bars seem to have a very natural position, unlike some Sportsters), I cant seem to see why you would need to go any higher to get weight off the bars.
