k. so i posted this in the intake section awhile back and had absolutely no response. figured this might be a better section for it. my dilema is that i am fixing to do some major engine mods to my bike, which is an 03xb9r. cams, head work, pistons. i am concerned with the stock throttle body not flowing enough for the application. has anyone tryed changing over to an xb12 intake? whats involved?

12 T.B. is a 49mm and can be machined
to 51mm 53mm( not sure about the max. bore possible) and than re plated , if you can re-size your T.B. to that level no need to replace it , just machining and re plating.
have a look how to manage it .
there are people here really experienced doing this( managing the fuel system...maps , exc.)
this is one of the most interesting point
and should be covered more .
bye Alessio

Alex from M-Tech did some researds on this,
and came to the conclusion ( if my memory serves me well ) that a XB 9 ( old type, 2 piece ) throttle body , did flow better than a XB12 one.

ps.. all the later 9 models have the same ( one piece ) intake manifold as the 12 models
