Author Message   Aodh69 Posted on Friday, July 04, 2008 - 02:30 pm:        I have a 1998 S3T Thunderbolt with about 24000K...when shifting into third gear it sticks a little. The resistance is not very bad, but when you shift you have to be firm and deliberate or it will fall back into second. Does anybody know what is causing this and is it going to lead to a bigger problem later?   Chainsaw Posted on Wednesday, July 09, 2008 - 08:33 pm:        It could be as simple as a Shifter Pawl adjustment, or a missing / loose spring clip on the detent plate. If you have the tools in front of you, you can get to the Pawl and Detent plate in less than an hour, but you will need a couple of big sockets (1 1/8 & 1 3/16 IIRC), locking bar, and a torque wrench. A Service Manual would be really helpful too. I 'think' you can have a Dealer do the service for under $200 if you don't want to tackle it.
