I have a 1997 Buell Thunderbolt S3. For some reason this just started happening. I will start the bike and it will run fine but will all of a sudden start bogging and die while riding. It takes a good 15 minutes to cool down before it will start back up again, but then will die about 5 minutes later when it gets hot again. Im lost.

See if opening the gas cap has any affect. Could be the vent on the gas tank is sticking and the fuel stops flowing. When you experience the problem open the cap and you may hear a whoosh.

If it isn't the vent line as Ocbueller has indicated I would test the intake seals.

I have a similar problem with my 2000 X1 it doesn't always do it but sometimes it will stall out...ill pull over and then it will start again for me and run good but if i try to release the clutch it will stall...as with you after 15 minutes or so its fine but once this happens once during a ride it keeps happening every 5 minutes or so...strange thing is it will run fine until i put it in gear and start letting out clutch...very very lost!

Maybe an intermittant clutch switch?? Or a bad kickstand switch??

i am currently having the same problem, i found that the kick stand switch was bad. i would ride then the bike would flame out, i would release the clutch and the bike would die out even when it was in neutral.(hmmm) checked the kick stand switch and walaaah!

i see similar problems all the time. the ignition will get hot then quit working. if u havent figured it out try taking off the ignition cover on the end of the cam cover then get a hair dryer and start the bike. blow the hairdryer on the ignition until it gets fairly hot and see if it dies. (note: if there is any melting of the silicone on the ignition it is a bad unit.)
