although i would love to use a traxxion cartridge set-up for my 2004 xb12r, i don't think i am able/willing to swing the price. any recommendations on the next best thing? i am 180lbs after a few cheeseburgers and a salad.

Just do a fork rebuild with new springs and custom damping. GP Suspension here in Oregon did my XB forks with great results. There are several others suspension shops referenced here within BadWeb that do the same work.
