So the I got my girl to take the ABATE motorcycle class and now we are looking at bikes for her to learn on. Since I cannot stop kicking myself for selling my old bike(vf 500 interceptor v4) we are looking at a blast. I am wondering about the longevity of it both as mechanicaly sound, and lasting fun. I also am wondering about the chances to put on after market parts to help her get into the other joys of riding (tinkering... ). I am wondering about exausts, intakes, carb kits, the whole 9 yards. |

The blast is (in my opinion) perfect. You've got a few different exhaust options. I had the Vance and Hines which sounded great. Re-jetting the carb and putting a new intake is easy enough. I put 15,000 miles on mine in 15 months, with a trip from Fl to MA and back. They're super easy to work on, but they're so reliable that you won't need to do it often. Shoot me an email if you've got any specific questions, I don't check this section too often. |

Hello Ak, My bf just bought me a blast and I love it. I took the Harley Davidson Riders Edge course and it really opened my eyeballs to the biker world. They taught me to ride on a blast but the one I have has a lower seat and feels comfy to control so I am more apt to ride it further. It has a vance and hines exhaust on it so its louder but doesnt bother me at all..has more umph than most would think of a 'thumper'. ha ha I love it and think its a great investment. julie |

My girlfriend took the Rider's Edge classes this spring and we found a perfect 03 Blast at Kegel HD in Rockford. She's really happy with the bike and has has no problems at all in the first 2500 mi. She loves the fact that she's averaging about 77mpg and loves to rub it in cuz my S3T gets between 45-50. The bike is perfect in every way and out performs all the smaller "entry level" bikes with better mileage to boot! And, they're easy to work on! We haven't rejetted or tried exhausts yet, but she said "maybe over the winter we'll work on it". She initially had plans to upgrade to a Harley after one season, but she just told me a couple of days ago that she may just keep the blast for a while. She's that happy with it! |
