Just checking before I make anymore mistakes. The lower bearing inner race is frozen to the triple tree shaft. I'm planning to remove the C clip to remove the shaft from the lower tree then press the bearing off. Any problems with this approach? Better ways? Easier ways?
Thanks
Joe

On one of them as I remember it you had to remove the C clip to the lower triple to remove the bearing anyway. Anyway the C clip was a Pain in the --- to get off. Maybe heat up the bearing (carefully) to loosen it from the shaft.

You should only have to press the stem downward out of the tree to remove the stem and bearing. As the stem presses out of the triple, the triple will push the bearing off.

Hi Puddle. Maybe reread Karmas posting. (The lower bearing inner race is frozen to the triple tree shaft.)

Thanks James
Already tried the heat. Just wanted to know if there is a shoulder on the pin or not before I put it on the press. Trying not to make this worse. I did the S3 a couple of years ago and they both dropped on from the top.

Is the stem still in the lower triple, or do you just have the shaft with the bearing on it?

I'm unable to get the inner race loose with propane heat. Would something hotter work?

No hay de que! Matt,

Es un placer ayudar a hacer las cosas más fáciles sin tener que recurrir a los dealers o talleres mecánicos.

Me alegra saber que en un foro Americano hay gente como tu que habla o entiende el español.

Saludos y cuídate mucho.
