Another newbie dumb question. I noticed a barbed fitting on the underside of the intake yesterday without a hose attached. I looked in the manual and it is the Vacuum fitting for the evaporative canister on Cali. bikes. It wasn't plugged so can I assume that I was losing vacuum/ sucking air through this fitting? I put a short section of hose with a plugged end on it before I rode to work last night and (it may be wishful thinking) but the bike did seem to start, idle and run better than it has been doing recently. Should I keep this fitting plugged or is it supposed to be open? I don't want to do anything that is going to damage the engine. The bike has been popping on decel, occasionally "farting" on throttle blip, and generally idling rough. Any advice, info greatly appreciated as the manual does not seem to offer any additional info on non-evap. bikes.

I found mine missing when I changed air cleaners. I plugged it but didn't notice any difference. The only "farting" I notice is when the operator has eaten some beans.....

Joe,
Would having it unplugged have caused some of the problems I was having? Pops, rough idle, etc?

Thanks Gary

I don't think it will. If you look it comes into the feed horn just outside of throttle plate. Not going to effect the vacuum in the intake. Just don't need to suck some trash up into the intake.
