My X1 has a Hypercharger intake and V&H exhaust to breathe and poop with...digestion is taken care of by a Buell Race ECM. I have no real complaints about this set-up except for the fact that I have to run it at or above 3500rpm for it to run smooth. How much damage is being done running constantly at higher rpm's? Would it be too lean if I installed the original ECM? Sometimes I just want to take it out and cruise, not rip it up! Does anybody have any input?

These bikes generally aren't smooth until 3000 rpm and up. 3500 shouldn't cause any problems. But if you would like to check thinks out look into ECMSPY. You need to get the FI and engine management optimized for really good riding. Things like TPS reset, AFV correct, O2 sensor in good working order, throttle cables adjusted, good spark plugs of the correct heat range and AIT clean.

Check and ensure that all the screws are in the butterfly of the fuel injection and tight. Get the tension on the primary chain correct. Inspect your wiring grounds and correct as necessary. Also meter your battery with the bike at rest and with it running @ 2000 rpm. Should be 12.6-12.9 with the bike off and some thing more that 13.9 with it at 2000 rpm.

Thanks Joe!....plugs and wires are new, battery is strong, TPS is calibrated (I have a VDST for my lap-top), will check AFV and O2 sensor.
